In homage to practitioners of motif and pattern in other artisan and cultural traditions, motifs have been translated into a textured self-stitched double cloth weave structure.
The Seigaiha (Ocean Waves) sashiko motif symbolises luck, power and resilience. Sashiko, meaning “little stabs”, is a Japanese stitch tradition originally practiced as mending by patching layers of cloth with tiny, precise running stitches.
Woven with New Zealand wool in either natural cream (Corriedale) or silver brown (Corriedale and Romney). 45 cm x 45 cm.
Cushion backs are handwoven in a plain weave using the same yarns to quietly complement the textural cushion face fabric. After washing and steam pressing the cushions are constructed with a concealed zip, with care instructions inside.
To lower freight costs Sojourn cushions are offered as cover only without an inner. You can find wool filled cushion inners listed separately here:
Free delivery by courier within New Zealand.
Handmade by Christine Brimer in Lyall Bay Wellington.
